You Are So Loved
You Are So Loved
At Clotho, we believe that the most profound domestic artifacts are those created with specific intent. This piece - a private gift for a child - serves as a primary example of how we curate multiple threads of inspiration to weave a single, cohesive narrative.
You Are So Loved was a personal piece, commenced on 6 January 2024 and completed on 11 September 2024. It is one of two cross-stitches curated as a set for a child. Note: Due to the personalisation, some details are not visible to protect privacy
Counted Pattern. 14ct Aida. DMC Metallic and Étoile thread.
Cross-stitches for the pattern (Icons and text). Half-stitches to fill in the background field.
For You Are So Loved, the original charts left significant negative space. To align with the Theophora aesthetic of 'Domestic Satiety', I introduced a half-stitch background. This creates a soft, tactile depth that anchors the piece without overwhelming the delicate palette.
Custom gold chain suspension with a bronze owl flying key charm.
Finished in a quality Beechwood 24-26mm deep embroidery hoop.
The Materiality
The colour palette was intentionally departed from the standard, utilising a curated selection of DMC Metallic and Étoile threads. These specialty fibers add a subtle, celestial shimmer and a sophisticated texture that standard cotton cannot achieve, transforming a traditional craft into a piece of luminous textile art.
Privacy as Respect
In keeping with the Theophora commitment to the sanctity of the domestic sphere, the full portrait of this work remains private to protect the identy of the child. We are these details to showcase the level of customisation, technical precision, and material excellence that goes into every project we touch - whether a private gift or a client commission.
